HALE BOGGS FEDERAL BUILDING AND COURTHOUSE

The Hale Boggs Federal Building and United States District Courthouse are located in downtown New Orleans, 3 blocks from Moses Engineers’ office on Poydras Street. The 14 story office building and 6 story court building were completed in 1976. Moses Engineers was the original electrical design firm.

In 1988, Moses Engineers provided the mechanical and electrical design and M & I services for a major central plant retrofit. The steam boilers and absorption chillers were removed and two 800 ton electrical centrifugal chillers and three 6000 mbh gas boliers installed. Four 28,200 MBH cooling towers were installed with new condenser water pumps. During this conversion, the building was kept in operation without a single shutdown.

In 1995, Moses Engineers provided the mechanical, electrical and structural engineering services for the new 6th floor crossover bridge between the two buildings. This project included a new sallyport, reversing elevator operations and modifications to three Office tower floors and the Marshall’s Office in the Courts Building. All work was provided without a single building shutdown.

In 1991, Moses Engineers was selected by GSA for an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract After four successive renewals, Moses Engineers was again awarded another IDIQ GSA contract in 1996 and again in 2001. In 2005 Moses Engineers designed new Central Plant with two 900 ton chillers, a 300 ton chiller, three 6000 mbtu boilers, four cooling tower cells at 550 tons, a new domestic water booster system and new domestic hot water heaters.
